A downloadable game

My game engine does not love exporting to html. It breaks alot of stuff(mostly visual). Seems like you have to build your game for html from the start.

Download and play LoinkhamTDdemo.exe to play.

"Space" to open and close shop.

I really enjoyed playing this game.  It's very addictive!

Things I loved:

  • I love the fact that you can interact with things on the map (like the crossbow in the second level).
  • I love the snowball pigs!  They are my favorite.
  • The aesthetic is great, I love the animations.

Some general issues I noticed:

  • When I hit escape, the game didn't pause.  It would be good to break the action if I need to get up or pull my attention away from the game.
  • When I hit escape, the shop closed on it's own, I'm not sure if that was intended.
  • I know it's a TD and most of the mechanics are probably known to fans of the genre, but there was little explanation as to how to play, where to click, etc.  Luckily I knew what to do based on playing previous TD's, but a fresh player might get frustrated not knowing the basics of the game at first.

A couple of gameplay suggestions to improve the game:

  • The cost of trashing a tower should also include the upgrades you've added.  I went to reposition some of my towers after they had been upgraded a bit and it didn't seem like the price of the upgrades was included in the refund.
  • Is it possible to add a repositioning feature?  Maybe at a cost of gold.
  • The coins that drop need to be more noticeable.  I found myself missing out on clicking them purely because I didn't notice they dropped.  I think it should be very obvious that a coin appeared and that I need to click it as soon as I possibly can!

A couple of my own suggestions (don't need to include these, they are just ideas):

  • It would be cool to see the towers build up and look physically more imposing as you upgrade them.  i.e. the machine gun pigs could start with a pistol, but end up with a huge AR or something at full level for example.
  • Adding an offensive drop along with the coins would be good that you also need to click.. i.e. a clickable that sends the nearby wolves back a bit if you click it in time.

Overall this is going in a really great direction.  I played for over an hour and didn't notice I was playing that long.  Great job, and I look forward to playing future builds!

I enjoyed playing and look forward to see more piggies xD
